Anyone who’s received email in the last decade has seen these “I have money to give away” ploys. Of course, all of them involve you giving them money, first, or, they’ll send you a counterfeit cashier’s check for “too much” and ask you to send them the difference.
Anyway, this was the funniest one I’d received in a while, maybe ever! My favorite line: “I have Lung Cancer, which has geometrically...

Xmas 2007 →
There were several family photo ops today at the Luza Christmas today.
Mom wanted a family-wide photo with those who were in attendance today.
Our newest great-niece, Caroline, met most of the family, today.
Hannah & John are getting married in a couple of weeks, so we did a fast engagement session.
Patty wanted a photo of her son Ben, his fiance Jackie, and her daughter Maxie.
Thank you...
Luza-family Christmas →
Though we were not all present, and someone needed to take the shot, (and some family members were uncooperative), we still got a nice shot of the Luza family on this beautiful Christmas day in Aggieland. We certainly could not have asked for better weather.
Welcome Caroline →
Our newest great-niece, Caroline, was born Thanksgiving weekend. She made her big family debut today. She’s just a doll.
Congratulations, Sean & Audrey, and Alex.
Hannah & John Bragg-Perez →
Hannah & John are getting married in a couple of weeks, so we took some time today to do a quick little engagement session.
Ben, Jackie, & Maxie →
Patty wanted a group shot of Ben, his fiance Jackie, and her daughter Maxie. So, we took advantage of the pretty day (and a cooperative toddler!) to get a nice little set of photos of them.
Special Treat →
Recently, we had a special treat. In seeing to the needs of a client, I offered to make a delivery to his work. He said to call when we got there and that he would buzz me in. I dragged Emil along for the “field trip”.
…and we both made our first visit ever to an airport’s control tower! I know it’s just our “little” airport, but it was amazing! We were invited back during a busier time-frame, so...

What Size Print/Canvas? →
One of the challenges we face in the photography industry is educating our clients on the appropriate size print or canvas for their home. Cindi Penrod of Penrod Studios has put together a fabulous display of prints in various sizes in relation to a sofa.
Most clients think an 8×10 is large enough for their needs. As you can see from this display, an 8×10 would not be viewable from even just a...

Digital camera for dogs
Now, even the baby has his own digital camera, so the only member of the family without one is the dog. And what dog lover isn’t curious about how the world looks from their dog’s point of view? This .35 megapixel camera is worn on the collar, and you snap photos with a remote control or set it to take photos...

Indigo’s new home →
Thanks to Michelle of True Blue animal rescue, Indigo found a new home with her friend Christina and her son Matthew.
We met them at the dog park last night. We talked about Indi’s habits and quirks. Matthew played with Indi and saw him interact with other dogs. After a while, they felt they could give him a good home and we felt comfortable sending him off to live with them.
Christina called...

Who’s gonna “Kick Hanson’s Ass” →
It’s been a while since we posted something funny Emil has said. It’s not for a lack of content, but more for a lack of the web nearby when he does it.
Backstory: One of my early days working at TEEX, I clicked to send an instant message to my boss, Laine. I noticed the song she was streaming in her status. It was Hanson’s “mmmmmm bob!” In spite of the fact that music streaming tries to make you...

To My Crafty Friends →
…and that really means all of you. (After all, we are all crafty in our own ways.)
I really like this project/cause. If you are out of ideas for a way to give back this holiday season, please consider a “woobie” for a critter. I know our cats love the crocheted-was-supposed-to-be-a-baby-blanket that lays across the foot of our bed. I also have test swatches and scrap yarn that can become a loving...
A Romantic Getaway →
Danielle and Marty got married in the little town of Mt. Vernon, Texas, today. It was a beautiful ceremony, given by a skilled minister, decorated by a bride and mom team with an amazing attention to detail, and a posh reception with “Christmas Village” centerpieces and fabulously catered by the local dress shop! (Yes, really!)
Before the ceremony started, they already had us all in tears with a...

All Hail to the Miami U! →
I go to the same convenience store and chat with the same guy every morning. He’s just a doll and one of the best examples of customer service I’ve ever seen.
Today, for the first time, he notices, admires, and compliments my Miami ring. He seems impressed. I beam a little with pride.
As I’m going to the truck, I notice a moving van parallel parked behind me. The driver is still there, and I’m...
Cleve Jones lecture and AIDS quilt presentations →

Thank you, to everyone who helped bring Cleve to Aggieland!
Raising the Bar →
I’m finding myself a bit sleepy this morning. In addition to a busy week, I’ve got the latest version of “the crud”, so I’m not sleeping well.
As I was going through my morning news/blog routine, I found myself leaning back in my ergonomic desk chair like it’s a recliner. I found myself starting to fade. I found myself staring at the pretty Windows Vista desktop photographs on my new monitor. I...

No Wonder I Lose Stuff →
Ok, so I have lost my Treo twice since June. Once, it was right where it fell out of my bag. The other time, we had to file insurance on it for all the damage it endured.
Tonight, I figured out why it was so easy for it to fall out of the case. I had been putting it in upside down! What? How on EARTH is this possible. Well, let’s just say that it is. If I put it “antenna down”, it’s much more...

Day 3 at StarVision Technologies →
Day three. My boss is out of town this week and next.
I’m shooting images for the website and negotiating details of our deal with the company we hired.
It’s a busy time, but it’s all good stuff! I’m thrilled to be given the responsibility and authority to really make something happen.
Moreover, I’m glad to see someone decide something without hemming and hawing too long before making a...
Aggie ALLIES →
Most of you know that I work with Aggie ALLIES, a safe-zone program for the Texas A&M community. We have expanded our educational programming (Thanks, Becca!), so there has never been a better time to go through the workshop—known as an Advance—to become an ALLY.
This flier lists the dates of the training
Skipping Christmas →
I’ve not been clear to everyone about my Christmas intentions. This statement will rectify that.
I Am Skipping Christmas!
(honestly, I’ve tried this for a couple of years, now)
I will not do anything that doesn’t bring pure and rich value to my family and friend relationships.
I will not participate in annual “holiday” parties that happen to be held during the “holiday” season; there are 11...
Lori’s First Day →
Today was my first day at my new job. For those just catching on/up, I’m now a Technical Writer for StarVision Technologies.
I spent most of the morning doing paperwork. This afternoon, I got a more formal tour from my boss, Mike. I was able to learn a little about what each project does (COOL stuff!) and ask questions. It felt like a field trip! In one room, there is a “race track” outlined in...

When You Wish Upon a Star…. →
So, after a pretty long medical leave of absence, I resigned from “REEX” on November 26th, worked through the 30th, and took leave through December 31st. Yes, push came to “shove it” and I told a couple of them where they could (with my eyes only, of course).
On Thursday the 29th, I saw a Tech Writer job post at a company I’d not yet heard of. I applied and was immediately offered interviews for...

They All Come in Threes →
Last week, I had three bad things happen to me in one day. It sucked.
This week, I’ve had two, so far, good things happen. One is something I can’t blog about (but email me if you want to know. I’m happy to share.) and the other is a fabulous interview for a fabulous job! So, keep you fingers crossed for me!!!!
If they all come in threes, I have one more good thing coming to me. Let’s hope it’s...
